Artist's Comments

I have a nephew who suffers from this debilitating condition.

I hope the touch of humour in the stamp will bring smiles to lots of you, convince you to feature it in your journal, and thus help raise awareness.

To risk an oxymoron, I've seen most of his films, and I'm not a fan. Still, as a writer, I wouldn't wish dyslexia on anyone.

I'm Dyslexic and I had to work with it at a summer camp when I was younger. It was hard to work with and made me feel like I was stupid- but I was able to take control and reach my goals. I am very lucky to have recieved all the help in my younger years. I know it is hard to deal with. Cute stamp! It made me laugh too.

Thank you - I was little worried that I might be seen as making fun of dyslexia, but that wasn't my intention, of course. A little bit of humour can go a long way!

I am dyslexic and I think this is wonderful.. It will go in my journal immediately.. I wish your nephew good teachers and lots of love.. I've lived with it for 62 years, it isn't fun.. Tell him that dyslexics are smarter than most people, and there are no limits on what he can become..

As one 62 year-old to another - thank you! As you say, dyslexia is no fun. It's easier for the nephew, with today's awareness and aids, but it must have been torture for you as a lass, knowing something was wrong, but not what it was, and being labelled as 'slow, and rather stupid.'

Oh, thanks for making this stamp. Going in my journal now. My hubby (age 60) and daughter (age 27) both have dyslexia. Not severely, thankfully, but enough to cause them problems with reading and spelling. They both worked their way around it in school and were excellent students. I do have sympathy for those who struggle with it.

Heavens! I am so pleased the stamp is getting this reception! As I said, I thought I might get into trouble a bit, for the fun side of it!

:hug:s back.

It wasn't easy, but I knew I wasn't stupid.. The teasing made me more determined.. I didn't discover what was wrong, till my youngest daughter was diagnosed.. Once I understood, it made things easier.. I didn't do well in school, but I loved to learn.. I am mostly self taught because of that.. The only thing I haven't been able to learn is to drive..
