Contest - The Swayer [Warning! Mature Content!]
I need:
Entries !
More Prizes !
More Judges !
The premise, taken in parts from my eighth novel "The Swayer of Sankara":</b>
David starts off as an ordinary, six-foot, black-haired, brown-eyed young man, aged 17 ...
After he finds and accidentally touches the incubus, Icthion, he gains the demon's mark on his chest ... "... it wasn’t just a mark, it was a tableau; stretching all the way from my hips, up my stomach, almost as far as my throat. An enormous tree-trunk, exquisitely drawn in lines so fine, I was astonished my skin could show such detail. The colours were breathtaking, my breathing enhancing their fire; silvery browns in the bark, subtle shades of green in the vines that twined up its surface; little twigs and leaves, with strange, tiny birds of all types perching, preening, even flying and nesting. Two huge, moss-covered and root-bound rocks at the base of the tree hid minute insects, small animals, amphibians of all shapes and sizes. It was like looking at a forest scene painted by Hieronymus Bosch. I ran upstairs and screeched to a halt before Mum’s huge pier mirror. It revealed the appalling truth – the tree was a dick; a huge, knotted penis with two gigantic, leathery-scrotumed balls, reaching all the way from my groin to my Adam’s apple. From a distance, the vines became veins, the twigs and leaves were just hair, and all the little creatures merely creases, pores and spots. I looked down again, and there they all were ... and each time I saw something different; every item so finely detailed, you’d swear it was alive; it really was incredibly beautiful. Back up to the mirror though, and I sported the biggest, veiniest, tattooed cock in the entire known universe."
While crossing Phlegethon, the River of Fire, David encounters the crow-like demon, Solphas and later finds that his hair ... both on his head and in his groin ... has turned into short, shiny, blue-black feathers ...
Later, David inadvertently looks at Lucifer and is blinded, whereupon the demon replaces his eyes with those of a fish-eagle ... "When I looked into the still surface of the pool, I was surprised to see that my eyes didn’t look a whole heap different from how they had before ... except they were now gold instead of brown, the iris covered almost the entire surface and the whites were now blacks. What with my unruly three-inch growth of burnished-blue feathers and the picturesque erection on my chest, I now looked very strange indeed!"
As payment for giving David command of all languages, the demon Ronwe removes his navel ...
And finally, in return for the promise of releasing him from his "prison" in the Tree of Knowledge, the serpent-demon Cerenus gives David webbed hands and feet, and a set of gills in his neck ...
"... so it looked like I was stuck as a tattooed, navel-less, eagle-eyed, aquatic crow ..."
Your taskTo produce, by whatever visual medium you choose, your best representation of David in his final 'Swayer' form. [i.e. - all media are permissable, except literature.]
You may enter as often as you wish, but can only win one prize-section.
Your prizesThe winner will receive a one-year subscription to dA, which may be kept or donated, all or in part, to any other deviant or deviants.
Should there be more than ten entries, I will donate a second prize of a sixth-month subscription, again donatable, all or in part.
If there are more than fifteen entries, there will be a third prize of a three-month subscription, similarly disposable.
All prize-winners will also receive their choice of any three of my novels by pdf-download.
TimingThe contest will open immediately, and will run for exactly three months. Thus it will end at midnight on 7th January 2009. Please note that in this instance,
there will be no extension.EntrySend me a note with a link to your piece. I will place it both in my journal and in a permanent, dedicated fav-gallery.
JudgingCentauran,
ravenwing136Other bitsAs is patently obvious, The Swayer will necessarily have to be depicted naked. Please note that he starts off 'ordinary'. However, your depiction of him will nevertheless presumably attract a 'mature' warning, (unless you choose to depict him from the hips upward ... which would eliminate his webbed feet.)
I invite other deviants to
offer prizes and their service as judge. All who do so will receive their choice of two of my novels by pdf-download.
I also invite others to
publicise this contest in their journal etc. Again, my novels are the payment for so doing.

Tal's Tale - Chapter 1Tal’s Tale.
~a short story by Felix Avier
Chapter 1
…which consists mostly of an introduction to several characters, a vague timeline, and a narration of the events which occurr near the beginning of the tale.
=^=^=^=^=^=
This is Tal’s Tale.
Have you met Tal?
Tal was there when it all began (and he was there when it all ended, too, but the telling of the events pertaining to the latter of such presences shall have to wait until the incidences of the former and the mishaps of the in between have been fully and entirely related).
Tal’s Tale is a wandering and twisting matter which occurred sometime roughly between the beginning of the tale and the end of the tale. Some of Tal’s Tale stretches back to long before the tale ever began, and a few parts will definitely continue for some time after it ends, but all in all, the majority

Funeral for Lullaby
Funeral for LullabyRock-a-bye baby, under a rock
Hidden away from old Father Clock
When the ground breaks, the baby will cry
An arm for an arm and an eye for an eye
So shear all your sheep and say your goodbyes
With bitter repugnance and little white lies
We're going to grandma's to sell her our souls
And turn in our paycheck of blank porridge bowls
Now gather your bricks and your sticks and your straw
Your welcome is void and it comes to a draw
So ladies and gentlemen, don your wolf clothes
And please face the moon now in neat filed rows
The woodsman is coming with hardly a sound
And baby's still sleeping 6 feet in the ground

Drifting ...no place to go
today has ended
all that's seen
is pretended
it's your mind
beyond the crying
cold dead eyes
from life are hiding
drifting, drifted
sadness weds
mourning heart
to darkest dread
shattered dreams
abandoned sleep
walk the maze
of memories keep
shut the gates
bar the doors
from could've beens
